Chisan Country Club Hojo opened on 6 November 1984 in the Hojo district of northern Matsuyama, with the Seto Inland Sea on one side and views of the foothills of Mt. Takanawa on the other. It is operated by PGM, one of Japan's largest course groups, and the club puts it at about forty minutes from Dogo Onsen.

The position is the main thing. This is a hillside course that looks down over the Inland Sea, with some holes laid out on the mountain side and others on the sea side, so the two halves of the round feel different. The club describes the fairways as generally flat and roomy. From the back tees the eighteen holes measure 6,469 yards against a par of 72, and there are two greens per hole, Bermuda and bent.

You can take a caddie or play self. Caddies are by advance reservation and in limited numbers, so ask early if you want one. Carts carry GPS navigation, and driving onto the fairway costs ¥550 per player, applied to the whole group and dependent on the weather and the course. There is no driving range. The restaurant opens from 8:30 to 16:00; out on the course, only vending machines for soft drinks, which take cash. Rental clubs are ¥3,300 a set and shoes ¥1,100, both limited, so request them in advance.

We arranged rounds here for overseas visitors in July 2026, together with two other PGM courses near Matsuyama. We have not published a rate because rates change with the date and plan; tell us when you want to play and we will come back with the price for that day. Green fees in Japan move by date, day of the week and plan. We confirm the final rate for your date with you before the tee time is booked.

Visitor FAQ

Can overseas visitors play Chisan Hojo?+

Yes. We arranged rounds at this course, and at two other PGM courses near Matsuyama, for overseas visitors in July 2026. Reservations are handled in Japanese, which is the part we do. We check your date with the club as part of the booking; if we cannot secure it, our fee is refunded in full.

Caddie or self-play?+

Either. Caddies are by advance reservation and the club has a limited number, so tell us when you book if you want one. Note that at many Japanese courses a caddie plan means walking rather than riding — confirm which you want.

Is there a range?+

No. The club lists no driving range, so plan to warm up on the putting green or elsewhere.

What does it cost?+

We have not listed a rate here because it moves with the date and the plan. Tell us your date and group size and we will quote what the club offers that day.

Can I rent clubs?+

Yes, at ¥3,300 a set, with shoes at ¥1,100. Numbers are limited, so we ask the club to hold a set when we book.
