Kiyosumi Golf Club is in Higashimatsuyama, in central Saitama, and is further from Tokyo than most courses on this site — allow well over an hour and a half from the city centre. What you get for the journey is a full-length championship layout and a caddie at your side.
The course is eighteen holes, par 72, and plays 7,084 yards from the black tees, with blue, white, green and gold tees running down to 5,200. The club publishes a course rating of 74.1 and a slope of 134 from the back. Its stated design idea is to keep things as natural as possible, giving a calm look to a course that still asks strategic questions. On many holes a tee shot out of bounds is replayed from a forward tee with a penalty, which keeps play moving.
Caddie play is the club's standard, and it says it puts real effort into training its caddies in both service and golf knowledge. The riding carts are remote-controlled on a guided track and carry a navigation screen with score entry. The range is 240 yards with eleven bays, open in the morning, and there is bunker, approach and putting practice. There are separate baths for men and women — the club asks guests with tattoos not to use them — and a restaurant overlooking the course.
Published rates are for groups of three or four with a caddie; a group of two pays more, and two-player rounds are not available on weekends and holidays unless you play with a member. The club closes on set days, mostly Mondays and some Tuesdays, shown on its calendar. Bookings are taken by telephone.
Rates change by day. The figure on this page is from the club's calendar for October 2026, not a quote.
Getting there
The course is in Higashimatsuyama, in central Saitama. A club bus runs from the dedicated stop at the west exit of Takasaka station on the Tobu Tojo Line and takes about fifteen minutes; the morning departures were 7:00, 7:45, 8:20 and 9:00 when we checked, and there is no bus on the club's self-play days. A taxi from Higashi-Matsuyama station takes about fifteen minutes and costs around ¥3,000. By car it is about 5 km, ten minutes, from Higashi-Matsuyama IC on the Kan-Etsu Expressway. From central Tokyo allow well over an hour and a half.
Nearest station: Takasaka (Tobu Tojo Line) — club bus about 15 min. We include precise written directions (English and Japanese) with every confirmed booking. If you prefer a private car, we can introduce a partner hire-car provider; please confirm golf-bag space and book transport directly with the provider.
