- Classic design by Seizo Tomizawa in the Asagiri Highlands
- On-site lodge — wake up at the foot of Fuji
There are Mt. Fuji courses, and then there is Asagiri: laid out by the celebrated architect Seizo Tomizawa across the open Asagiri Highlands specifically so that the mountain is in view from every one of the eighteen holes. No waiting for hole 7 for the postcard shot — Fuji simply presides over the entire round, impossibly large at this distance.
The highland setting, around 900 meters of elevation, keeps summer rounds pleasantly cool and gives the turf a springy, resort-course character. There is a lodge on the property, so you can stay the night, catch the mountain glowing at sunrise, and play again — the definitive Fuji golf pilgrimage. Self-play with carts keeps things relaxed, and the enormous 340-yard practice range is a destination in itself. If one image defines golf in Japan for you, this is where you go take it yourself.
Getting there
About 1 hour by Shinkansen from Tokyo to Shin-Fuji then 45 minutes by taxi, or 30 minutes by taxi from Kawaguchiko Station.
Nearest station: Shin-Fuji Station (Shinkansen) or Kawaguchiko Station. We include precise, bilingual directions with every confirmed booking — and can arrange a private car with golf-bag space if you'd rather skip the trains entirely.
Visitor FAQ
Is Mt. Fuji really visible from every hole?+
Yes — the routing was designed around the view. For the clearest skies, play October to February and book a morning tee time; summer afternoons can bring haze and cloud around the summit.
Can I stay at the course?+
Yes, Asagiri has on-site lodge accommodation. A stay-and-play here pairs beautifully with the Fuji Five Lakes area or a round at nearby Fugaku or Fujizakura — we can build the full itinerary.
How do I get there from Tokyo?+
Shinkansen to Shin-Fuji (1 hour) then a 45-minute taxi, or express bus/train to Kawaguchiko then 30 minutes by taxi. A private car for the day is the most comfortable option and lets you add sightseeing stops.
