Daifuji opened on 1 August 1954, which by the club's own account makes it the third-oldest course in Shizuoka. It sits above Fuji City on the Suruga Bay side of the mountain, and the position is the point of the place: Fuji stands ahead of you and the bay lies below.
The club credits the design to Marumo (丸毛信勝), an agronomist with a doctorate who was known in his day, it says, as the turf doctor of Japanese golf courses. What he produced follows the ground rather than fights it — the club's own description is of natural terrain turned into a course, with hand-made undulation through the fairways. At 6,448 yards and par 72 it is not long by modern standards; the course rating is 71.1 from the back tees to the main green. There are two greens, main and sub, both bentgrass.
For a visitor the practicalities are straightforward. You can take a caddie or play self. The carts are five-seaters with remote control and a tablet-style navigation screen that gives distances to the green and hazards. There is a large communal bath at the end and a restaurant. The practice area is small — five bays into a thirty-yard net — so plan to loosen up rather than work on anything. Winters are mild: the club says snow is rarely a concern.
Rates are published openly and move by month and by day of the week. For September 2026 the club listed ¥10,500 on weekdays, ¥16,500 on Saturdays, ¥15,800 on Sundays and ¥14,700 on public holidays. October and November weekdays are ¥11,000 and Saturdays ¥18,900. Those are totals for self-play with a riding cart and a lunch subsidy, tax included.
One piece of context worth having: Daifuji belongs to the Fujikyu group, and so does Fuji Golf Course on the Yamanashi side of the mountain, which is also on this site.
Getting there
About 7.2 km — roughly eight minutes — from Shin-Fuji IC on the Shin-Tomei Expressway, or 8.3 km from Fuji IC on the Tomei. The course is above Fuji City, on the Suruga Bay side of the mountain. Shin-Fuji station on the Tokaido Shinkansen is about thirty minutes away by taxi.

Visitor FAQ
Can overseas visitors play Daifuji?+
The club takes public bookings through its own site and by telephone, in Japanese, which is the part we handle. We have arranged a round at Fuji Golf Course, which is in the same group, but not yet at Daifuji itself — so we confirm your date and any conditions with the club before you pay anything.
Can I play here on my own?+
Yes. Daifuji operates its own single-player booking system, where a solo golfer is placed into a group with other players. That is worth knowing in this area: Fuji Golf Course, on the Yamanashi side of the mountain, does not accept a booking for a single overseas player at all. The club's online version of the system requires a Japanese web account, so tell us you are travelling alone and we will arrange the placement with the club directly.
How good is the Mt. Fuji view?+
The course sits on the southern, Suruga Bay side of the mountain, and the club's own photographs show Fuji standing directly behind the fairways with the bay visible from the seaward holes. Clear mornings in the colder months are the most reliable, as they are anywhere around Fuji.
What does a round cost?+
For September 2026 the club published ¥10,500 on weekdays, ¥16,500 on Saturdays, ¥15,800 on Sundays and ¥14,700 on public holidays. October and November weekdays are ¥11,000. Those totals include a riding cart, a lunch subsidy and tax. The club also states that its own site is guaranteed to be the cheapest place to book.
Caddie or self-play, and is there a bath?+
You can choose either. Carts are five-seaters with remote control and a tablet navigation screen. There is a large communal bath and a restaurant. Note that at many Japanese courses a caddie plan means walking rather than riding — confirm which you want when we book.
Is the practice range any good?+
It is small: five bays hitting into a net at thirty yards, at ¥330 for 25 balls. Treat it as a warm-up, not a range session. If you want a proper range before you play, tell us and we will factor it into the plan.
