- Every round is played with a caddie, on a riding cart

Daihakone opened on 8 November 1954 on the Sengokuhara grassland in the north of Hakone, with the outer rim of the old Hakone caldera rising behind it. The club credits the design to Komyo Otani and Prince Yasuhiko Asaka, and describes it as built largely by hand, before heavy machinery was in use, so that the original lie of the land is still visible. It has hosted the CAT Ladies, a women's tour event, every August since 1998.
The club calls the course flat and wide with moderate undulation — Sengokuhara is one of the few open, relatively level sites in Hakone. It is long: 7,181 yards from the back tees and 6,515 from the regular tees, par 73. The 15th, at 589 yards, was once known as the monster hole, and the 16th looks out towards Owakudani. Most holes have two bentgrass greens.
Every round is played with a caddie, on a riding cart. There is a hot-spring bath fed from the Ubako source, a restaurant, a 250-yard range with twenty bays, and the Hakone Sengokuhara Prince Hotel on the grounds.
Based on our 2026 booking experience, the club did not accept a booking for a single player, while a booking for two went through, so we suggest coming as a pair or more. We check the current conditions for your date. When we checked Friday 6 November 2026, the weekday plan with a caddie and riding cart was ¥29,735 per person, with a two-player surcharge of ¥6,600 (¥2,200 for three) plus a locker fee. These are examples from October 2026, not a quote; rates and plans change by date.
