Fuji Classic is on the Fujigane plateau in Fujikawaguchiko, Yamanashi, on the north-western side of Mt. Fuji. Its own site is in English, with separate booking routes for visitors who live abroad and for residents of Japan.

The course was designed by Desmond Muirhead, the English-born architect who died in 2002, and the club describes it as his signature work in Japan. It calls the course links-style, and the hole notes bear that out: humps and hollows on the 6th, white-sand bunkers on the 8th, a pond fed by a stream on the 11th, a rock-edged pond on the 15th and an island green on the short 17th. Mt. Fuji rises behind much of it. From the back tees it is long — 7,171 yards at par 72 — with 6,296 from the regular tees.

The overseas-golfer rate includes the green fee, a cart and the bath; lunch is included on some plans. The bath has a sauna, and the restaurant serves set meals. There is a range, with tokens handed out at check-in. On site there is also a hotel and a private sauna villa, booked separately. Rental clubs are ¥5,500; left-handed sets are men's only.

Rates vary by season, by day of the week and by how far ahead you book. The club publishes overseas-golfer rates from ¥19,000 on weekdays and ¥31,000 at weekends; the online rate we checked in October 2026 for a Saturday in November was ¥43,000 with lunch. These are examples, not a quote.

Getting there

About forty minutes by car from Kawaguchiko IC on the Chuo Expressway, via Routes 139 and 71; roughly two hours from Shinjuku. By train, take the JR Chuo Line to Otsuki and the Fujikyu Line to Kawaguchiko, then a taxi of about thirty minutes.

Nearest station: Kawaguchiko (Fujikyu Line) — about 30 min by taxi. We include precise written directions (English and Japanese) with every confirmed booking. If you prefer a private car, we can introduce a partner hire-car provider; please confirm golf-bag space and book transport directly with the provider.

Visitor FAQ

Can overseas visitors play Fuji Classic?+

Yes. We telephoned the club in October 2026 and confirmed that it accepts overseas visitors and bookings made on their behalf. The club also runs a separate overseas-golfer plan. We check your date with the club as part of the booking; if we cannot secure it, our fee is refunded in full.

Why is the price higher than some listings I have seen?+

The club has separate rates for Japanese residents and for golfers who live overseas. Resident rates are not open to visitors, and if a visitor books one the overseas rate is applied at the club. We always book you on the overseas rate so there is no surprise on the day.

What does a round cost?+

The club publishes overseas-golfer rates from ¥19,000 on weekdays and from ¥31,000 at weekends, varying by season and booking date. As an example, the online rate we checked in October 2026 for Saturday 7 November was ¥43,000 including lunch, with a surcharge of ¥2,200 per player for a group of two. We quote your own date before you pay.

Can I play on my own?+

On the dates we checked in October 2026, single-player slots were rare and appeared on one public holiday only, at the overseas rate. Tell us you are travelling alone and we will look across your dates.

Can I rent clubs, and is there somewhere to stay?+

Rental clubs are ¥5,500, in men's and women's sets; left-handed sets are men's only. On site there is a hotel and a private sauna villa, each booked through its own website.
