Visitor acceptance: we check this for your date

We have not yet confirmed this club's position on bookings made for overseas visitors. We check it with the club for your date as part of the booking — if we cannot secure it, our fee is refunded in full.

Fuji Country Club opened on 16 August 1958 on the eastern foot of Mt. Fuji, two kilometres from what is now Gotemba IC. It was the first golf club founded in Gotemba after the war, planned by the city's first mayor as a way to bring the area back to life once the US forces had left. It is not the same club as Fuji Golf Course at Lake Yamanaka.

The course was laid out by Shiro Akaboshi, who studied golf and course design in the United States before returning to Japan. The club says it was shaped largely by hand, keeping the natural slopes and undulation of the hillside. The outward nine wraps around a ravine with out-of-bounds down the right, which suits a draw; the inward nine has trouble on the left. From the full-back tees it plays 6,832 yards at par 72.

The clubhouse is the other reason people come. It was designed by Antonin Raymond, an architect the club credits with spreading modernist architecture in post-war Japan, and the club says it is the oldest of his clubhouses still standing. It is registered as a national tangible cultural property. The restaurant has a single large window facing the mountain and a stone fireplace in winter. The bath draws groundwater; the club does not describe it as a hot spring. There is an eleven-bay range to 200 yards with a short-game area above it.

Rates change by date, by plan and by the number of players. The figure on this page is an example we checked in October 2026, not a quote.

Getting there

About 2 km — three or four minutes — from Gotemba IC on the Tomei Expressway. The club bus runs from Gotemba station (Otome exit) at 8:05, 8:25 and 8:55, with an earlier 7:30 service; every seat must be reserved by 16:00 the day before. Highway buses from Tokyo stop at Gotemba IC and Gotemba station.

Nearest station: Gotemba (JR Gotemba Line) — about 10 min by club bus. We include precise written directions (English and Japanese) with every confirmed booking. If you prefer a private car, we can introduce a partner hire-car provider; please confirm golf-bag space and book transport directly with the provider.

Visitor FAQ

Can overseas visitors play Fuji Country Club?+

The club takes visitor bookings in Japanese, which is the part we handle. We have quoted rounds here, but we have not yet had the club confirm in writing how it treats overseas visitors — so we check your date and any conditions with the club as part of the booking; if we cannot secure it, our fee is refunded in full.

Is this the same as Fuji Golf Course?+

No. Fuji Country Club is in Gotemba, Shizuoka, on the eastern side of the mountain. Fuji Golf Course is a different club near Lake Yamanaka in Yamanashi.

How do I get there by train?+

Take the train or a highway bus to Gotemba station. The club bus leaves from the Otome exit at 8:05, 8:25 and 8:55 (plus a 7:30 service), and all seats must be booked by 16:00 the day before — we arrange that when we book your round. Return buses leave the club in the afternoon.

What does it cost, and can I take a caddie?+

As an example, the online self-play rate we checked in October 2026 for Thursday 5 November was ¥13,500, lunch not included. The club also offers caddie rounds; at many Japanese courses a caddie round means walking. Groups of one or two pay a surcharge. We quote your own date before you pay.

What is special about the clubhouse?+

It was designed by the architect Antonin Raymond and is registered as a national tangible cultural property. The club says it is the oldest of his clubhouses still standing, and the restaurant looks straight out at Mt. Fuji.
