- Mt. Fuji and Lake Ashi are in view from most holes, according to the club
- The 7th plays with Fuji straight ahead and the lake below
- Weekday self-play from ¥8,435 online, with plans that carry no two-player surcharge (November 2026)
- Open all year; part of the same resort area as a lakeside hotel and the Hakone-en ropeway
Hakone-en Golf Course sits on a slope between Mt. Komagatake and the eastern shore of Lake Ashi, at Moto-Hakone. It is run by the Seibu Prince group, and it is part of the Hakone-en resort area alongside a lakeside hotel, the ropeway and the aquarium.
The club's own description is of a course wrapped around the foot of the mountain, so although several holes play uphill or downhill, the changes in height are not as severe as the setting suggests. At 5,518 yards and par 71 from the regular tees it is short, and it is a course to enjoy for the scenery rather than to test yourself on. The club says Fuji and the lake are visible from most holes; the 7th, with Fuji ahead and the lake below, is the one it singles out.
Play is self-play only, on carts with GPS navigation. The practice range is for irons only — clubs of 180 yards or less — and closes at 3 p.m. There is a restaurant with a lake view and a shop. Rental clubs are ¥4,950 and shoes ¥1,100, in limited numbers. The course is open all year.
When we checked early November 2026 weekdays, online self-play plans without lunch were ¥8,435, with no surcharge for two players, and plans with lunch were ¥8,835 plus a two-player surcharge of ¥2,200. There were many tee times. These are examples from October 2026, not a quote; rates and plans change by date.
